Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering

Manufacturing Engineering is a key industry in the creation of various types of machinery and production equipment. The equivalent English name for this field is Manufacturing Engineering. This industry determines the technical and technological level of a country. It plays a role in practical production activities, where mechanical engineers in manufacturing participate in operating the entire process of creating (mechanical) products, while optimizing the production process to ensure maximum efficiency and economy.

The Manufacturing Engineering field is closely related to the Mechanical Engineering field; almost all the specialized knowledge and skills of mechanical engineering form the necessary foundation for Manufacturing Engineering.

What is Manufacturing Engineering?

Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering is the field involved in creating machinery and production equipment, generating means of production to serve all current human needs. The Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering program is designed to train future engineers in the fundamental knowledge and skills of mechanical manufacturing through subjects such as: manufacturing technology, measurement techniques, tolerances and fits, machine elements, strength of materials, engineering materials, machine tools, CNC technology,… and supporting subjects like mathematics, informatics, foreign languages,… to develop thinking and calculation skills. Thereby, learners will be equipped with basic and specialized knowledge, and participate in practical sessions to initially become familiar with real-world work after graduation.

Career Prospects in Manufacturing Engineering

The Manufacturing Engineering sector is experiencing a significant shortage of human resources, especially in almost all mechanical product manufacturing plants throughout Vietnam and the world. In the future, the demand for labor will continue to increase, creating many job opportunities for learners. Graduates in Manufacturing Engineering often find jobs even before graduation. Specifically, some positions that graduates can hold include:

  • Technical staff, management, production supervision at mechanical manufacturing units.
  • Consulting, designing, operating, and controlling manufacturing production systems.
  • Equipment inspection and maintenance, management, production organization at units equipped with automated lines and equipment serving the mechanical manufacturing field.
  • Working at management agencies or teaching subjects in the mechanical and manufacturing engineering specialty at some universities and colleges.
  • Scientific research in the field of mechanical and manufacturing engineering at research institutes, inter-ministerial research centers…
  • Constructing or supervising the construction and completion of designed machinery and production equipment.
  • Participating in the operation of industrial production systems: operation, maintenance, troubleshooting of industrial equipment.

Studying Manufacturing Engineering at EAUT

Studying Manufacturing Engineering at EAUT, students will be trained with an applied practical orientation, specifically:

  • Training students with highly practical knowledge such as: Drawing technical drawings by hand and computer, manufacturing specific machine parts on processing machines, being taught and practicing making simple machines like seed separators, dishwashers… to complex machines like milling machines, lathes, automatic CNC machining machines…
  • The training program for the Manufacturing Engineering major at EAUT focuses primarily on practical work (30% theory, 70% practice) while partnering with enterprises to enhance training quality for students.
  • The training duration for the Manufacturing Engineering major at EAUT is only 3.5 – 4 years, meaning students not only save time and money but also have broader job opportunities by graduating earlier than other technical majors nationwide. Simply put, if you graduate 1 – 1.5 years before other students, think about how much money you save and how many more job opportunities you gain.
  • The training program at EAUT eliminates unnecessary subjects to focus on practice; students have many practical experiences at enterprises, preparing a solid foundation for future development.
