On the afternoon of October 16, 2026, Mr. Mai Son, Member of the Standing Committee of the Bac Ninh City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh City People’s Committee, chaired a meeting with East Asia University of Technology (EAUT) to discuss the implementation of construction investment projects in the city. During the meeting, the University proposed expanding its land area to support education, research, and the development of its Bac Ninh campus. It also proposed repurposing the former dormitory building to establish an Innovation Center, research facilities, and a space for connecting with businesses. These proposals reflect EAUT’s vision for developing an application-oriented university, with the aim of improving educational quality and contributing to the development of a highly skilled local workforce.
EAUT Proposes Expanding Its Bac Ninh Campus to Meet Development Goals in the New Phase
At the meeting with Bac Ninh city leaders, East Asia University of Technology proposed allocating an additional 12–15 hectares of land in Vo Cuong Ward and Lien Bao Commune, adjacent to its existing campus. The proposal aims to meet the University’s needs for expanding educational scale, research activities, and infrastructure development in the next phase.
The proposed expansion of educational facilities is part of EAUT’s broader vision of becoming an application-oriented university, strengthening ties with businesses, and meeting the socio-economic development needs of Bac Ninh City. In this context, infrastructure plays an important role in improving conditions for learning, practical training, scientific research, and cooperation between the University and employers.
According to information presented at the meeting, EAUT currently offers multidisciplinary education in economics, management, engineering and technology, health sciences, and social sciences and humanities. Further consideration of plans to expand the Bac Ninh campus aims to create more favorable conditions for education, research, and practical engagement, particularly in fields aligned with businesses’ workforce needs.
During the meeting, representatives of relevant departments, sectors, and local authorities discussed investment and construction plans, legal frameworks, and the procedures for land use, as well as issues requiring further clarification. Mr. Mai Son acknowledged the University’s proposals and requested that EAUT prepare a detailed dossier outlining the necessity, scale, intended land use, and development orientation of the proposed projects. This would enable the relevant authorities to coordinate their review and provide recommendations in accordance with regulations.

Proposal to Establish an Innovation Center to Strengthen Links Between Education and Research
One notable item discussed at the meeting was EAUT’s proposal to renovate and repurpose the former dormitory building to establish an Innovation Center, research facilities, shared laboratories, and a space for connecting with businesses.
According to the University’s development orientation, the Innovation Center would provide a favorable environment for linking education with scientific research, technological development, and the practical needs of businesses. It could also serve as a platform for professional exchanges, applied research, and collaboration between lecturers, students, and external organizations.
In an application-oriented university model, innovation involves more than acquiring new knowledge; it also requires the ability to apply that knowledge to real-world problems. Developing research facilities and shared laboratories could create additional opportunities for students to engage in practical activities, test ideas, refine their professional skills, and become familiar with appropriate research methods.
In addition, the business engagement space is envisioned as a bridge between the University and the labor market. Through cooperation, EAUT would have more opportunities to understand workforce demands, exchange information on professional requirements, and explore training partnerships suited to the realities of production and business operations.
During the meeting, city leaders assigned the Department of Science and Technology to work with the University to study a specific plan for the proposed Innovation Center. The objective is to strengthen connections among education, scientific research, innovation, and businesses, serving not only the University but also businesses, educational institutions, and the wider community.

Strengthening University–Business Cooperation to Develop a Highly Skilled Workforce
Strengthening links between the University and businesses is one of the key directions in EAUT’s development strategy. Through collaborative activities, students have opportunities to experience professional environments, gain a clearer understanding of job requirements, and proactively prepare their knowledge and skills before graduation.
For engineering and technology disciplines, connecting education with real-world production is particularly important. In addition to specialized knowledge, students need to develop practical skills, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and adaptability to technological change. Developing research spaces, laboratories, and business cooperation models would provide a stronger foundation for the University to explore and implement activities supporting these objectives.
At the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh City People’s Committee Mai Son acknowledged EAUT’s proposals and affirmed the city’s support for the University’s development orientation in alignment with businesses’ practical needs and the demand for a highly skilled workforce.
Regarding the proposed land expansion and the next phase of campus development, the University was asked to complete its dossier and clarify its plans for cooperating with businesses in training, workforce provision, and the development of engineering and technology disciplines. On this basis, the relevant departments and sectors will coordinate their review and advise the city for consideration within its authority and in accordance with current regulations.
This provides an important foundation for EAUT to further refine its development plans and strengthen coordination with local authorities and relevant organizations to explore solutions suited to the University’s educational, research, and development needs.

EAUT Joins Hands in Supporting the Development of Bac Ninh City
Alongside its plans to expand infrastructure, EAUT also proposed cooperating on landscape improvements and tree planting on the land in front of the University. According to the meeting’s conclusions, the city will coordinate the study of funding arrangements for site clearance. Once the work is completed, the University will carry out landscaping and tree planting in accordance with an appropriate plan. Vo Cuong Ward and Lien Bao Commune will be responsible for coordinating efforts to ensure that site clearance proceeds on schedule.
Attention to landscaping and infrastructure development will help create a more integrated learning environment and provide favorable conditions for students’ education and daily activities. It also forms part of EAUT’s long-term development orientation in Bac Ninh, aligned with the effective use of resources and stronger engagement with the local community.

The meeting on October 16, 2026, provided a further opportunity for East Asia University of Technology and the Bac Ninh city government to discuss the University’s development orientation for the next phase. Proposals concerning land expansion, the establishment of an Innovation Center, and stronger business cooperation will continue to be reviewed and refined in accordance with regulations.
With its focus on practical education, applied research, and workforce development, EAUT aims to build a modern educational environment that gives students more opportunities to strengthen their professional capabilities and prepare for the demands of the labor market. Through these efforts, the University will continue to promote stronger links among higher education, businesses, and local authorities, contributing to the ongoing development of Bac Ninh City.
