EAUT Students Engage with Four Japanese International Students, Connecting Cultures and Gaining Practical Experiences

Recently, students from the Faculty of Japanese Language at Eastern Asia University of Technology (EAUT) had the opportunity to take part in a special exchange programme with four international students from Japan. The activity created an open and engaging space for connection, giving EAUT students more opportunities to practise Japanese, interact with international friends and explore the distinctive cultural features of the Land of the Rising Sun.

EAUT Students Connect with Four Japanese International Students

From the very beginning, the exchange programme took place in a lively and friendly atmosphere. EAUT students and the four Japanese international students quickly got acquainted, introduced themselves and shared interesting stories about their lives, studies, hobbies and personal experiences.

Differences in language and culture did not create barriers; instead, they became an interesting element that made the conversations even more engaging. EAUT students actively asked questions, exchanged ideas and learned about the lives of young people in Japan, while the Japanese students also had the opportunity to discover more about the learning environment and student life in Vietnam.

Learning Japanese Through Real-Life Experiences

In addition to conversations, the programme also featured minigames and interactive activities designed to create a fun and friendly atmosphere among students from the two countries. Through these activities, EAUT students had more opportunities to use Japanese in real-life communication situations, practise their listening comprehension and responsiveness, and build confidence when communicating with native speakers.

For students of the Faculty of Japanese Language, this was a particularly meaningful experience throughout their academic journey. While classroom learning helps students build a foundation in vocabulary, grammar and language skills, direct exchange activities enable them to gain a clearer understanding of how Japanese is used in everyday life.

Regular interaction and communication with Japanese people also give students opportunities to recognise differences in expression, social etiquette and communication styles. Through these experiences, students not only improve their foreign language proficiency but also gain more practical perspectives on Japan, its people and its culture.

Connecting Vietnamese and Japanese Cultures

The exchange programme was not only an opportunity to learn more about Japan but also a chance for EAUT students to introduce the beauty of Vietnamese culture to their international friends.

Students prepared and presented gifts carrying distinctive Vietnamese cultural values to the four Japanese international students as a friendly gesture of welcome and appreciation. Although simple, the gifts conveyed the affection, hospitality and desire for connection shared by EAUT students.

Through close and meaningful exchange activities like these, the cultures of the two countries were shared in a natural and vibrant way. Every story, game and gift contributed to creating memorable experiences and helping students from both countries understand one another better.

From an Exchange Programme to New Friendships

What made the experience even more meaningful was that the connection between EAUT students and the Japanese international students did not end when the programme at the University concluded. After the exchange, they also made plans together to explore several popular tourist destinations in Hanoi.

From a meeting on campus, the new friends gained further opportunities to accompany one another and experience life together. This is also one of the special values that international exchange activities bring, as learning does not take place solely in the classroom but is expanded through real-life experiences and multicultural relationships.

Expanding Experiences and Strengthening Global Competencies for EAUT Students

In today’s modern educational environment, foreign language proficiency and the ability to integrate internationally are becoming increasingly important for students. In addition to professional knowledge, opportunities to interact with friends from different countries help students develop confidence, communication skills and a greater ability to adapt to multicultural environments.

For students of the Faculty of Japanese Language, direct exchange programmes with Japanese people are particularly practical and meaningful. These activities provide opportunities for students to apply the knowledge they have acquired, gain a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and find greater motivation on their journey to master the language they are pursuing.

The exchange programme with four Japanese international students was therefore not simply a networking activity but also a memorable learning experience for EAUT students. Conversations, laughter, interactive activities and meaningful gifts created a valuable space for exchange, where Vietnamese and Japanese cultures were connected through young people.
