In the current context of Vietnam, the Information Technology (IT) industry is one of the fastest-growing and most sustainable sectors (with a growth rate of 30% per year).
At the national conference on “Developing Human Resources for IT” co-organized by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Information and Communications, forecasts indicated that Vietnam will face a shortage of IT human resources in the coming years. Therefore, Information Technology has become one of the hottest fields in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0).
What is Information Technology?
Information Technology is the field that studies hardware, software, and processes used to create, process, transmit, store, and utilize information. In today’s “flat” world, information technology plays an extremely important and indispensable role in the development of society.

Among the academic disciplines at universities and colleges, Information Technology is always considered a smart choice for high school students because of its stability and the attractiveness of its career opportunities.

What will you gain from studying Information Technology?
- Students are equipped with fundamental knowledge of natural sciences, as well as basic IT knowledge such as computer networks, information systems, programming, and databases.
- The IT curriculum provides students with the skills needed to achieve Japan’s Information Technology Standard (FE), a qualification recognized in many countries worldwide.
- IT students are encouraged to study and improve both English and Japanese, creating a strong language foundation for future career opportunities in Japan.
- Students gain hands-on experience with the latest technologies at leading IT enterprises and have the opportunity to engage in research to develop high-value commercial products. At East Asia University of Technology, students participate in three internship periods at technology companies, directly engaging in professional activities within these organizations.
- Students are trained in job interview and CV writing skills, and career opportunities are introduced through academic programs and extracurricular activities.

What Careers Can IT Graduates Pursue?
On average, the IT industry in Vietnam faces a shortage of about 78,000 workers annually if personnel growth remains at 8%. The shortage could exceed 500,000 workers—representing over 78% of total IT workforce demand—by 2030. Therefore, many IT students secure jobs even before graduation. Specifically, graduates can take on the following positions:
- Specialist in designing, developing, and managing IT research and application projects
- Specialist in managing, supervising, and investing in IT projects
- Data and information analyst for businesses requiring quantitative analysis
- Specialist in developing social media and web applications
- Specialist in developing 3D products and designing 3D characters
- Particularly, students have the opportunity to become IT engineers in Japan, recruited by Japanese IT companies immediately after graduation.
Studying Information Technology at EAUT
The Information Technology program at EAUT emphasizes practical training (30% theory, 70% practice) and strong collaboration with enterprises to enhance educational quality. The program combines classroom learning with hands-on experience in computer labs, companies, and online environments.

The program is designed to help students quickly acquire essential working skills and apply IT knowledge in specific areas of Industry 4.0 such as cloud computing, social networks, machine learning, web and mobile applications, and big data analytics on IoT platforms.
What do IT students study?
– In the first two years, students learn general and foundational IT knowledge with an application-oriented approach, gaining early exposure to CPS systems, working with Industry 4.0 technologies, developing programming and data processing skills.
– In the third year, students specialize in one of four directions: (1) Computer Networks & Communications, (2) Software Engineering, (3) Computer Science, (4) Management Information Systems.
– In the fourth year, students complete internships directly at enterprises, applying theoretical knowledge and practical skills gained at the university to real-world work. Many proactive students even start interning in their early academic years.
– The university has invested in a modern computer system with ASUS IPS27 monitors, the latest Core i5 processors, 8GB RAM, and dedicated 2GB graphics cards for 3D design, providing the best possible learning conditions for students.
Choosing to study Information Technology at East Asia University of Technology means students receive comprehensive training—from theory to hands-on practice—in an excellent learning environment. With strong career prospects and a balanced curriculum, IT continues to be a top choice for many young people shaping their future paths.
